Holidays In Hawaii – Part 3 – Big Island

The third in our series of four holiday episodes in Hawaii covering the "big island" as the island of Hawaii is the most often cited.

As the natives (and long-time residents), as if to say, there only two seasons on the Big Island Hawaii: "The summer" between May and October and "Winter" from October to April. The climate varies considerably, but – in terms of rainfall – from west to east. Hilo, east, or "wet" side of Big Island is the wettest city in the United States.

Big Island Of Hawaii "Kona" side (the west side dry) is the most popular destination. It offers accommodation and restoration activities in pursuit of pure FUN! Snorkeling, diving, kayaking and deep sea fishing is the most popular.

The Island is also famous for its volcanoes. Kilauea is the most active volcano in the world. Sometimes you can Watch lava flowing across the landscape at Volcanoes National Park. On days when the volcano is not erupting, you can explore its lavascape "unique", with its chimneys spewing steam, its giant potholes and craters lava. Standing at just over 5,000 feet, Kilauea is not the highest volcano on Big Island, but it is certainly the most active.

For an aerial view of the Great Island, be sure to check Blue Hawaiian or Tropical Helicopters in Hilo. Dedicated drivers will whisk you away and deliver loads in nformation flight, including a literal "over-the-top view of Kilauea Volcano!

And for those who want to experience the water, trek to Kona Boy Kayaks, past mile marker 113 on Highway 11 and get the thrill of Big Island Hawaii – in style! There you can rent a kayak or take an excursion tour. Paddle to the summit the wave along the spectacular cliffs and waterfalls, or snorkel and swim in a calm and protected Cove – your choice. Maybe you'll see a few dolphins Long-billed paddling through the Captain Cook monument.

Speaking of dolphins, the Hilton Waikola Village on the Big Island, has a program called Dolphin Quest. There in the lagoon, children and adolescents and some adults may have the opportunity to swim with several Atlantic bottle nose dolphins. This program is almost always full. Reservations must be made at least 60 days in advance.

You can go even further by revealing the world of underwater creatures and their habitats by visiting Atlantis Submarine, also in Kona. And there are also world class sports fishing off the coast Kona.

This area is known as the world capital of marlin. Big Fish Game, including the giant blue marlin and other billfish of the Pacific, tuna and swordfish are abundant in the waters off the coast. Hundreds of boats fishing charter operating out of Kailua-Kona area where you can rent a boat with friends or join one shared daily charters.

There are many beaches on the Big Island. Pauoa Beach, the Fairmont Orchid in Mauna Lani Resort is infused with natural sources of fresh water moving beneath the surface of the ocean. It is located on the Kohala Coast of Hawaii the northwest side of the island.

One of the best beaches in Hawaii, Hapuna Beach is a landscaped 62-acre Beach Park. Swimming and other water sports are best enjoyed during the summer months, during a calm sea. Winter surf can be rough. The beach is located on the Kohala Coast on the northwest side. The Hapuna Golf Course, part of the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel, extneds from shore to 700 meters altitude, offering both challenge and beauty.

Visitors can explore a colorful variety of over 100 types of tropical fish and marine life, including sea turtles. A large coral reef both protects the lagoon and is home to these animals. A source of fresh water to feed 10 million gallons per day in the lagoon.

Kaunaoa Beach, also known as Mauna Kea, is bordered by a coconut grove and protected by two points lava black. This beach sits directly opposite the Hotel Mauna Kea. Surfing makes robust Kaunaoa a bodysurfing and Boogie Boarder's delight.
